My Kind of Crazy. My cat craze started as a toddler. I grew up with cats and dogs, and revere all animals, yet I have always had an affinity for felines. I became known as the “Cat Lady” in my Laguna Beach neighborhood upon moving in with two cats, Punkie and Lexington, and later joined by Topper. After Punkie lived out her almost 20 years, Bella joined our clan, and a few years later passed then Bobcat came into my life. Lexington, Topper and Bobcat have all joined Punkie and my first cat, Frankie in “Kitty Heaven.” I wasn’t without cats for too long. Two months after Bobcat passed away, I adopted Samantha Jo on April 2, 2021, from the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter who I was crazy about from the moment we met.
Cat Lady to the Rescue. I have rescued all my cats from either shelters or the streets, from Frankie, who was abandoned in an alley at six weeks old to Lexington, who was one day away from being euthanized. Get acquainted with my clowder–read their bios under “Meet the Cats.”
Cat Lady the Writer. Like cats, I have had a passion for writing and storytelling since I was a kid. My short stories and essays have been featured in several publications including the Los Angeles Times, Orange Coast Magazine, and The Maine Review. And my childhood dream of making a book finally happened with the recent release of Two Cats, a Mermaid and the Disappearing Moon. Learn more under “My Children’s Book“.
Crazy About the Cat Cottage. I volunteer at The Blue Bell Foundation for Cats, a nonprofit organization that operates a cat sanctuary in Laguna Beach, which provides permanent housing in a vintage cottage for senior cats whose companions can no longer care for them, usually because of passing, illness or other life altering event. For those in need of such service or who would like to make a tax-deductible charitable donation, please visit www.bluebellcats.org.
