Two Cats, a Mermaid and the Disappearing Moon features my beloved cats, Topper, Lexington and Bella. My obsession with the moon, my cats, and canyon dwelling creatures, and my incessant appreciation for Laguna Beach’s scenic beauty sparked a story that takes the reader from the majestic canyons to calming coves of Laguna Beach as they go on an adventure with Topper and Lexington to find the full moon that goes missing from the sky. The creatures in the story were inspired by wildlife I’ve witnessed in Laguna Beach, including barn owls that lived in the palm tree in my yard and still come to visit. Mermaids have intrigued me since childhood and although I can’t say I’ve seen one, who knows what magical creatures come to life under the light of a full moon…
