Cats have been domestic companions for humans for about 10,000 years. History documents ancient societies and cultures that highly revered these animals. Yet, attitudes have changed over the centuries, for instance in today’s world, despite the recent cat craze (thank you social media), the single woman living with cat companions is often considered to be a “Crazy Cat Lady”. I bet the ancient Egyptians would disagree.
What people may actually see in a Crazy Cat Lady is a passionate, enthusiastic and devoted cat lover—someone the ancient Egyptians would hold in the highest regard. My passion for cats and writing came together in mini memoirs featured in my blog, which showcase these amazing creatures as not only lovable companions, but as guides and healers.
I experienced a whole new level of devotion for, and from my cats when I was diagnosed with advanced stage cancer in 2020. This unexpected passage is chronicled in archived blog entries during years 2020 to 2022, and some reflections can be found in more current entires. From diagnosis to treatments, to victories leading to post-cancer healing, my cat companions were critical members of my support team throughout every step of the journey.
Pam, thanks for being so special,, and what a wonderful family. Brian May
